Early entry for Summer 2011 run

Sorry to have missed this recent MGP and several others. I have, however, been to Forest Park recently and ran the MGP course and wish to submit my run time to be included in the Summer Solstice results for 2011.

I ran the course on Sunday morning, June 5 in the company of Steve Cackley, E David Granum and Nic Granum. These kind gentlemen can verify my time and route, but I do not think they would want to have their times that morning set down as their official times. I am certain they will turn in their customary stellar performances at the appropriate time and date. I slowed them down mightily as my age 65 and hemispherical disorientation proved to be quite a handicap. We started at 8:00 am sharp and I finished at 9:23:45. As we crossed the lawn in front of the Chapman school, Nic Granum gallantly slackened his pace to allow this elderly runner to cross the line first among his companions. I think this is a habit of courtesy that Nic has inherited from his father.

Given the fact that I have adapted well to the climate and culture of Northern Patagonia, this recent running of the MGP in 83:45 may have been my last. Do not, however, cross me off the list of those who receive results as I remain interested in the athletic efforts of all my old running companions. I would also like to invite any and all MGP runners who may be traveling to South America to stop by in El Bolson, Argentina. I can offer a bed, a meal, a microbrew and a running course somewhat similar to the MGP.

I am sorry I could not stay for the official run, but I have a flight south to catch the middle of this next week.

Hasta luego,

Eddie Zawaski
