Results for Autumn race on 9/22/10

What a great race last night.  Pefect weather and nice turnout, 29 runners.  My first time seeing the Swift's fly into the Chapman school chimmey.  Parking was a little difficult with the crowd for the Swift watching and soccer practice.  It was a busy night in the park.  It was a lot of fun to have spectators at the finish though.

I quickly put the results together on my lunch hour, I will update them again if I receive more times.  Email me if you see any mistakes.  I also wanted to mention this website is a "blogging" website.  So far only one person has used that capability.  What might you put in a blog?  Well right after the race you might want to put a comment about your race or race experience.   As an example I will put in a little report about my race Wednesday night.   See "Recent Comments" on how to enter a blog or comment.  It is real easy.

Autumn race report.

I was very excited for this race as the weather was perfect, it was my first time seeing the Swifts, and I  thought I had the fitness and course conditions for a fast time.

We had a great turnout 29 runners for a Wednesday night.  We started right at 6:09 as we had an early sunset.   For the race by the time we hit the Lower Macleay park, 3 of us were running together, Mike Oehl, Sebastin Wetzel, me, with William Emerson hanging back not far behind.  The 3 leaders were all six foot plus so it was like tri-towers going up the Lower Macleay trail.  Mike said we should be a basketball team not runners.  The three of us were together going by the stone hut.  Mike Oehl and I pulled away from Sebastian on the rolling section of the Wild Wood trail.  William also moved into 3rd about 40 to 50 yards back.

Mike and I ran together all the way to the top of the big hill on Wildwood trail.  At the top it was me, Mike Oehl with William still behind 40 or so yards.  After the top of the hill then I started to pull away.  The next section of trail is just an absolutely a blast to hammer and I did.  William however was starting to gain ground and passed Mike.

By the Dogwood intersection, William had closed to within about 10 yards.   I didn't want to hold up William so I decided to go for it down the Dogwood trail and I did.  I was just on the edge of being totally out of control down the hill.  There are a couple of hair pins near the bottom that I thought I might not make but I did.  What fun.   When we hit Lief Erickson, William and I were together.

We ran pretty fast all the way down the hill staying together.   However when we got to the flat a half mile from the finish he had more left and took it to the finish by about 5 seconds.   I ran 44:08 which was a Master PR for me by two minutes also only 4 minutes off my college PR on this course.   William also set a PR on this course but this is only second time running it.  Mike Oehl ended up 3rd and set his PR too.

Overal fun, fun, fun.

Next race is Saturday, December 18th at 9am.    If you have any race stories to share or comments please add them.
